‘Atiku-Amaechi Ticket Joint Ticket Of Corruption’ – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket of Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as a joint ticket of corruption.

Wike made the statement on Monday during a town hall meeting with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The former Rivers governor also dismissed the chances of the ADC ticket securing the constitutionally required 25 per cent of votes in Rivers State.

Wike questioned Atiku’s anti-corruption credentials, recalling former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s criticism of the former Vice-President during their time in office.

According to Wike, Atiku could not claim the moral high ground on corruption because his former principal had previously raised allegations about his conduct.

He also argued that Amaechi’s presence on the ticket further compounded what he described as the ticket’s credibility problem.

Wike said, “When I saw Atiku on television yesterday, asking Nigerians to take any money given to them by people from the party in power, saying that it will be stolen money, I said, ‘Haa, Atiku is now an apostle of anti-corruption? ADC’s Atiku-Amaechi ticket is a joint ticket of corruption.

“The same Atiku whose boss described him as corrupt and said one of his major regrets was making him vice president is talking.”
