A Nigerian woman, Nneka Asomugha, has publicly accused a pastor of sexually abusing her when she was eight years old.
Asomugha had alleged last week that she was sexually assaulted by a student pastor who, according to her, lived in the boys’ quarters of her family home.
She claimed that one of her older brothers discovered the alleged abuse and reported the matter to their mother.
According to Asomugha, two of her older brothers, including the brother who allegedly discovered the incident involving the pastor, subsequently began sexually assaulting her.
She alleged that the abuse by her brothers started in 1996, when she was in Primary 5, and continued until 2004, when she gained admission to university and said she became able to resist them.
One of the brothers she accused later responded publicly to her allegations but did not admit to or deny the alleged abuse.
In a new development, Asomugha has shared a photograph of a pastor whom she identified as the person she alleges sexually abused her first.
The allegation has generated attention online, with discussions surrounding childhood sexual abuse, accountability and the need for survivors’ claims to be properly investigated.
