Security operatives have recovered the body of a man earlier declared missing in Kopgai village, located in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, bringing a tragic end to days of uncertainty surrounding his whereabouts.
The deceased, identified as Abdullahi Mohammed, was discovered in a shallow grave along the Gimti River axis, a boundary area between Kopgai and Langai districts. The discovery was reportedly made at about 11:00 a.m. on March 25, 2026, following coordinated efforts by security personnel.
Sources revealed that the remains were carefully exhumed at the scene before being released to the victim’s family for burial in accordance with Islamic traditions.
Authorities have since launched an investigation to uncover the circumstances leading to his death, as well as to identify and apprehend those responsible for the act.
Meanwhile, troops under Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have intensified patrols and surveillance operations across affected communities. The move is part of broader efforts to enhance security, restore public confidence, and curb rising incidents of crime in the state.
