Former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has again denied claims that his administration borrowed money from financial institutions or issued bonds during his eight years in office.
Obi maintained that he did not personally approach any financial institution to secure loans or issue bonds on behalf of Anambra State throughout his tenure as governor.
He also dismissed allegations that his administration left behind unpaid salaries when he handed over power.
Speaking on the issue, Obi said:
“Let me categorically say again, I, Mr. Peter Obi, didn’t approach any financial institutions to borrow money or issue bonds on behalf of Anambra State in the 8 years I was in government. On the day I left office, I was not owing any salary.”
The former governor’s latest statement comes amid renewed discussions over the financial position of Anambra State during and after his administration.
