BREAKING: Soludo Sworn In for Second Term as Anambra Governor After Landslide Victory

Governor Charles Soludo has officially taken the oath of office for a second term, marking the continuation of his administration in Anambra State.

The inauguration ceremony was held on Tuesday at the newly refurbished Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital. He was sworn in alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim.

The event attracted a high-profile audience, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku. Also in attendance was Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and several other governors from across the country.

Soludo’s re-election was confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the November 8, 2025 governorship poll. He secured a commanding 422,664 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 99,445 votes. Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party finished third with 37,753 votes.

A total of 16 candidates participated in the election. Out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited, while 595,298 votes were cast. INEC recorded 11,244 rejected votes across the state’s 21 local government areas.

In a decisive show of political strength, Soludo won in all 21 local government areas, underscoring a sweeping mandate from the electorate as he begins his second term in office.
