EFCC Moves to Take Over Malami’s Abuja Residence, Seals Off Area [PHOTOS]

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday stormed the Maitama residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, in a dramatic move believed to be connected to an ongoing corruption probe.

The enforcement team, reportedly led by Folarin Dare, arrived in a convoy of about five buses. Dressed in the agency’s distinctive red and black gear and armed, the operatives quickly took control of the area, barricading the road leading to the high-profile property.

The residence, located in Maitama—one of Abuja’s most exclusive districts—was sealed off as EFCC officials attempted to gain entry. However, initial efforts to access the building at No. 2 Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street, were unsuccessful.

While the EFCC has yet to issue an official statement detailing the operation, sources suggest the action is tied to an ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct involving the former minister.

The development signals a significant escalation in scrutiny around high-ranking former government officials, as anti-corruption authorities appear to intensify efforts to recover suspected illicit assets and enforce accountability.
