A Nigerian woman identified as Nwanyi Bu Ife has sparked discussion on social media after claiming that Christian women who are “too religious” are more likely to end up marrying bad husbands.
Nwanyi Bu Ife made the claim in a Facebook post on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
According to her, young Christian women who are excessively religious have an 80 per cent chance of marrying men who may turn out to be bad husbands.
“If you are too religious as a young Christian girl, your chances of getting married to a bad husband is 80%,” she wrote.
Her statement has generated debate online, with the claim likely to attract differing opinions about religion, relationships and the factors that influence marital choices.
However, she did not provide any research or evidence to support the 80 per cent figure in the post.
