Security authorities in Algeria have arrested three men accused of attempting to illegally cross into Spain using an unusual disguise that has since attracted widespread online attention.
Strange Smuggling Attempt Uncovered
According to local reports, the suspects allegedly tried to sneak across the border by hiding inside a livestock truck transporting sheep. In an effort to avoid detection during inspection, the men were said to have worn full sheep costumes and positioned themselves among the animals.
However, the plan reportedly unraveled when border officials noticed irregular behaviour within the flock during a routine security check.
Officers Spot “Two-Legged Sheep”
Authorities became suspicious after observing that some of the animals appeared to be moving unnaturally. Witnesses said a few of the supposed sheep were seen standing upright and walking on two legs, prompting officers to conduct a closer examination of the vehicle.
Upon inspection, officials discovered that three of the animals were, in fact, men attempting to conceal themselves under the costumes. The individuals were immediately removed from the truck and taken into custody.
Possible Charges
The suspects are now facing allegations related to illegal migration and identity deception. Investigators are also reviewing additional claims that the men may have caused distress to the livestock while trying to remain hidden during transport.
Social Media Buzz
News of the failed attempt quickly spread online, where the bizarre nature of the disguise drew a mix of shock, humour, and criticism. Many commenters described the episode as one of the more unusual cases of attempted border evasion in recent times.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities say further inquiries are underway to determine whether the men acted alone or were assisted by a smuggling network. Officials have reiterated warnings about the dangers and legal consequences of irregular migration routes, particularly those involving risky concealment methods.
