
The Nigerian currency, the naira (₦), weakened slightly against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Monday, September 28, 2026.
According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the naira closed at ₦1,331.3292 to $1 on Monday.
The latest rate represents a depreciation from the ₦1,329.5138/$1 recorded on the previous trading day.
At the parallel market, commonly referred to as the black market, the naira was reportedly exchanged at ₦1,382 to the dollar on Monday.
The gap between the official and parallel-market rates stood at about ₦50.67 per dollar.
However, rates offered by commercial banks, Bureau de Change (BDC) operators and other foreign exchange dealers may vary from the reference rates depending on transaction margins, dollar availability and prevailing market demand and supply.
Market participants are expected to continue monitoring foreign exchange inflows, demand for dollars and monetary policies for indications of the naira’s direction in the coming days.
