Emotions ran high in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State on Friday, October 2, as the remains of a family of five who died under mysterious circumstances were laid to rest.
The deceased family reportedly comprised Mr Nnabugwu and his wife, Mrs Chinaza Onyekachi, alongside their three children, David, Nneoma and Chinyendu.
The family was reportedly discovered dead inside their residence after neighbours became concerned over several days of silence from the apartment.
According to earlier reports, the couple and their three children had gone to bed on Saturday, July 18. However, they were reportedly found dead after neighbours eventually broke into the house while searching for them.
Containers containing leftover food and a generator set were reportedly found inside the building.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear, with investigations expected to establish what led to the tragic incident.
On Friday, family members, friends and sympathisers gathered in the community as the remains of the couple and their three children were finally laid to rest in their hometown in Isiala Ngwa North LGA.
The burial was reportedly marked by grief as relatives and community members mourned the tragic loss of the entire family.
