Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) serving under Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have arrested two suspected logistics suppliers believed to be working for the Islamic State West Africa Province during an intelligence-led operation in **Monguno.
The suspects were apprehended at about 4:30 p.m. on August 3, 2026, at the C-19 military checkpoint in Monguno following sustained surveillance and intensified operations targeting terrorist supply chains, intelligence sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama.
The arrested individuals were identified as Bukar Kaka Modu, 30, and Abubakar Musa, 30.
According to the intelligence sources, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly transporting food items and other essential supplies to ISWAP fighters operating in Kwatan Dowoshi Village within **Kukawa Local Government Area.
The sources further alleged that the suspects admitted during initial interrogation that they were acting as suppliers for the terrorist group by delivering provisions and other materials to insurgent-controlled areas.
A search conducted after their arrest reportedly led to the recovery of several items believed to be intended for the terrorists.
Among the recovered exhibits were 11 cartons of biscuits, 192 sachets of biscuits, one carton of Peak milk, 10 mudu of sugar, nine bars of Viva soap, six headlamps, two bags of garri, 16 rolls of sachet garri, three packs of lighters, two Tecno button phones, one assault knife, one jazz belt, four jazz beads, six packs of herbal medicine, and ₦6,600 in cash, alongside other miscellaneous items.
Security sources also disclosed that troops recovered a document described as an alleged ISWAP-issued gate pass, which investigators believe may have been used to facilitate movement into areas under the control of the terrorist group.
The recovered materials and the suspects have since been transferred to the Headquarters of Sector 3 for further interrogation and additional investigative procedures.
Military authorities are expected to use information obtained from the suspects to identify other members of the logistics network and disrupt supply routes allegedly sustaining ISWAP operations across the Lake Chad region.
The operation forms part of the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign by Operation HADIN KAI and the MNJTF aimed at weakening terrorist groups by targeting not only their fighters but also the logistical networks that provide food, equipment, communication devices, and other resources essential to their activities.
Security analysts have repeatedly noted that dismantling these support structures is considered a key strategy in degrading the operational capabilities of insurgent groups operating in Nigeria’s North-East and neighbouring Lake Chad Basin countries.
As of the time of filing this report, military authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the arrests, while investigations into the suspects’ alleged activities and possible accomplices were said to be ongoing.
