The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a woman, identified as Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, in connection with the death of a man whose body was later found dumped along the Kubwa Expressway in Abuja.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Sanusi, disclosed this on Saturday during a press conference in Abuja.
According to the police commissioner, Muhammed and the deceased had reportedly lodged at Good Samaritan Guest House on 2nd Avenue, Gwarimpa, Abuja, where they intended to spend time together.
Sanusi said the situation took a tragic turn when the man reportedly stopped breathing while they were at the hotel.
Rather than alerting hotel management or contacting the police, the suspect allegedly left the premises with the deceased’s mobile phone, while his body was later moved from the hotel and abandoned by the roadside.
The deceased’s lifeless body was discovered on August 26, 2026, along the Kubwa Expressway, near the Katampe underbridge.
The circumstances surrounding the discovery initially led investigators to suspect that the case could be related to a possible “one chance” incident.
The police commissioner explained that the deceased’s family had also reported him missing, prompting investigators to establish whether the body found by the roadside was connected to the missing-person report.
Sanusi said painstaking investigation eventually confirmed that the deceased was the same person whose disappearance had earlier been reported by his family.
“When the lifeless body was subsequently discovered by the roadside, our investigators began working to establish whether it could be connected to the earlier missing person report.
“Through painstaking investigation, we were led to ultimately confirm that the deceased was the same person whose disappearance had earlier been reported by his family,” Sanusi said.
The FCT Police Command said investigation is still ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the man’s death and establish how and why his body was moved from the hotel to the roadside.
