‘Igbo Billionaires Only Remember Home During Burials’ — Odumeje

Popular Anambra-based cleric, Pastor Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has criticised some wealthy Igbo businessmen for allegedly failing to invest sufficiently in the South-East.

Odumeje argued that some Igbo billionaires only remember their ancestral homes when it is time for burials, while directing their major investments and development projects to cities such as Lagos and Abuja.

He, however, acknowledged and appreciated those who are already investing in the development of the South-East.

The cleric said:

“Igbo billionaires, most of them are only good at remembering their land when it’s time for burial. When it’s time for meaningful development, they remember Lagos or Abuja. But I appreciate those who are already building and investing back home.”

His comments are likely to reignite discussions about the role of wealthy Igbo individuals and business owners in developing their communities and the wider South-East region.
