Minister of Works, David Umahi, has responded to Ebonyi State PDP governorship candidate Ifeanyi Chukwuma after the businessman criticised the state government over its ability to attract investors.
Chukwuma had recently said in an interview that, if elected governor of Ebonyi State, he would leverage his relationships with wealthy individuals to attract major investments to the state.
According to him, he has more than 2,000 billionaire friends and could secure a ₦1 billion investment from them for Ebonyi State almost immediately if he became governor.
Responding to the claim, Umahi said he also has an extensive network of wealthy individuals and expressed confidence that money would not be a problem when it comes to attracting investments.
“We have nothing to worry about. When it comes to money, I have over 5,000 friends who are billionaires.”
Umahi’s response comes amid political discussions in Ebonyi ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with investment, economic development and job creation featuring prominently in the debate over the state’s future.
