NDLEA Arrests 4, Seizes 298 Bags Of Cannabis In Kaduna

Four individuals were detained in possession of 298 bags of Cannabis Sativa, according to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kaduna State Command.

Mr Ibrahim Braji, the state’s NDLEA commander, announced this at a press conference in Kaduna on Wednesday.

On the evening of January 3, he claimed, agency operatives detained the suspects in the Tasu Mahuta community on Refinery Road in the Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Commander, the operators caught four people, two women and two men, with 3,576 kg of cannabis.

He added that the command had expanded its operational structure in the state to cut down on the entry and outflow of drugs and that an investigation had been launched to identify further suspects for arrest and punishment.

He named Makarfi, Soba, Kaduna North, and Kaduna South among the newly established area commands. He also said that patrol vehicles had been sent to the Samaru, Zaria, and Sanga area commands due to their proximity to numerous states.

Braji added that the command would conduct an enlightenment campaign to sensitise young people to the dangers of drug misuse and its harmful repercussions before the 2023 general election.

He stated, “The sensitisation would be in schools, religious bodies, traditional institution, and vulnerable places,” and he implored the young people not to let themselves be used as agents of devastation by the negative forces in society.
