UAE Orders Arrest of Man Caught on Video Buying Luxury Cars [VIDEO]

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has ordered the arrest of a man captured in a video where he demanded that a car dealer in a luxury showroom sell him the most expensive cars available.

Gists9ja reports that the incident, which has gained widespread attention, was reported by Arabian Business.

According to the state-run news agency, WAM, the video contains insults and ridicule towards Emirati society and can potentially incite harmful public opinions of its citizens.

In the viral video, an Asian man dressed in traditional Emirati attire can be seen attempting to purchase a car worth $545,000. Surrounding him are individuals carrying large sums of money.

He arrogantly said, “What is the most expensive car here? Okay. I want the Mercedes, Rolls Royce, and the Red Bull sports car.”

The footage displays the man engaging in conversation with the showroom owner, displaying what has been described as an arrogant demeanour while requesting to buy a car valued at over AED 2 million ($545,000).

Reacting, the UAE’s Federal Prosecution for Combating Rumors and Cybercrimes has ordered the man’s detention pending investigations. He has been accused of abusing the internet by posting provocative propaganda that stirs public opinion and harms the public interest. Additionally, he faces charges of publishing content that violates media content standards and insults Emirati society.

The UAE’s FBI stated, “He was shown distributing financial packages to the showroom employees in a way that reveals imprudence and a lack of appreciation for the value of money.”

“The video promotes a wrong and offensive mental image of Emirati citizens and ridicules them, and then incites and provokes public opinion, which harms the public interest.

“The Public Prosecution ordered the summoning of the owner of the car showroom in which the aforementioned video clip was filmed.”

The Public Prosecution emphasised the importance of considering the societal values and characteristics of Emirati society, which require a moral commitment in all aspects of behaviour.
