AGN Appoints 30 Representatives For Junior Pope's Burial, Bans ‘Unnecessary Picture Taking, Video Recording’

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has appointed 30 representatives to coordinate logistics for the burial of famous actor John Paul Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope.

This was stated by the President of the union, Emeka Rollas on Tuesday, who explained that the representatives were selected from five states namely Delta, Imo, Abia, Anambra and Enugu.

Junior Pope and four others died in a boat accident in April.

The tragic incident occurred at the waterside of River Niger Cable Point, Asaba, Delta State on Wednesday while they were shooting a movie titled “The Other Side Of Life” being produced by Adamma Luke.  

The AGN statement also warned against the unnecessary taking of pictures and making of videos during the ceremony, adding that no newsmen would be allowed to cover the event except with the family’s approval.

Rollas said: “In preparation for the burial of our departed colleague Jnr Pope we have appointed 30 representatives each from these five state chapters namely Delta, Imo, Abia, Anambra and Enugu a conveying bus with the official T shirts for each of the state chapters.

“If you are within any of the mentioned states please contact the chairman Actors Guild of Nigeria of the state chapter where you are. For those who want to go on their own please you may wish to reach out to us for your T-shirts.

“It’s a devastating and sorrowful period for the Actors Guild of Nigeria therefore we shall not indulge in any unnecessary picture or video recording that is not by the official photographers at the proceedings of final journey of our departed colleague. All Press/ Bloggers must be accredited by the family.

The union had earlier announced the indefinite suspension of any film involving riverine areas and boat riding.
