Aisha Yesufu, the convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement, recently called out Nigerian singer Seun Kuti, labeling him as a result of Fela’s lack of discipline.
Her comments followed Seun’s response to her advocacy for women’s freedom in Nigeria, where he had suggested she should “liberate [herself] from [her] Hijab first.”
In a series of posts on her X account, Yesufu responded: “Seun Kuti wants attention by using my name, since his karaoke business hasn’t made him successful like others in music.
“I don’t blame him! If only his father had shown some discipline, we wouldn’t have to deal with these outcomes now.”
She added, “People book his shows just to see a caricature of his father since they can’t experience the real thing.”
Seun is the youngest son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
