Inauguration: Tinubu Tells Edo Governor, Okpebholo What To Do

President Bola Tinubu has urged the newly sworn-in governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, to place a high priority on improving the living standards of the state’s residents.

In a statement issued shortly after Okpebholo’s inauguration, Tinubu emphasized the need for focused and dedicated leadership aimed at significantly enhancing the well-being of Edo State’s people. He expressed his expectations for the new governor, urging him to take action that would result in tangible improvements throughout his tenure.

“I call on you to dedicate yourself to improving the living conditions of the people of Edo State and making a lasting and meaningful impact during your time in office,” Tinubu remarked in his congratulatory message, which was signed by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga.

Okpebholo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), succeeded Godwin Obaseki of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as governor, after taking the oath of office on Tuesday, November 12, administered by the Chief Justice of Edo State.

Reflecting on the return of the APC to power in the state following the administration of Adams Oshiomhole, President Tinubu emphasized that Okpebholo’s leadership must live up to the expectations of the people who have placed their trust in both him and the party. The president stated that this trust could only be justified by upholding democratic principles and ensuring effective governance throughout Okpebholo’s tenure.
