Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has named Gani Audu as his Chief of Staff to strengthen the government’s efforts toward advancing reform and enhancing governance across the state.
Announcing the appointment, which takes effect immediately, Secretary to the State Government Musa Umar Ikhilor emphasized that Audu’s experience aligns with the administration’s priorities and strategic goals.
Born on August 18, 1969, Audu is highly qualified, holding an HND from Auchi Polytechnic, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Benson Idahosa University, and a recent Master’s degree in Intelligence and Global Security from Baze University, completed in 2024. These credentials are expected to support his new role by providing valuable insight into state security and management.
Ikhilor noted that Audu’s extensive public service record will be a great asset in his role as Chief of Staff. Audu previously served as Chairman of the Etsako West Local Government Council from 2004 to 2010 and as a member of the Edo State House of Assembly between 2015 and 2023. His legislative and administrative experience will be key to advancing the Governor’s vision for governance reform.
“Appointing Gani Audu is a strategic decision to bolster the administration’s capacity to drive impactful changes that benefit all citizens of Edo State,” Ikhilor added.
In his new position, Audu is expected to contribute significantly to the state’s developmental goals and to support Governor Okpebholo in creating a responsive and forward-thinking government.
