Tragic Stabbing Outside Eastern China School Leaves Eight Dead

A tragic stabbing incident unfolded outside a school in Wuxi, a city in eastern China, resulting in at least eight fatalities and leaving 17 others injured, according to local authorities.

The violent attack occurred on Saturday evening at the Wuxi Yixing Arts and Crafts Vocational and Technical College around 6:30 p.m. local time (10:30 GMT).

Police identified the assailant as a 21-year-old former student of the college who was apprehended at the scene. Initial investigations suggest that the young man harbored grievances after failing to secure his diploma due to unsatisfactory exam results and feeling frustrated with his internship wages. Police reported that, upon arrest, the suspect openly admitted to committing the act.

Authorities have since launched a comprehensive investigation to understand the full circumstances of the attack, while emergency responders and local officials work to address the aftermath and provide support to victims and their families.

This stabbing follows another recent tragic event in southern China, where at least 35 people lost their lives when a man drove his vehicle into a crowd outside a stadium in Zhuhai. Initial reports suggest that the driver acted in response to unresolved anger over a divorce settlement.

Both incidents have raised public concerns and sparked discussions across Chinese social media, where users are expressing alarm over what appears to be a rise in public acts of violence. Some commentators suggest these events are symptomatic of a broader issue, with individuals turning their personal frustrations into attacks against strangers as a way to “take revenge on society.”
