The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of renowned producer and marketer, Chijioke Ike.
The sad news was shared by his colleague, Ajemba Stanley Chibueze, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, via his Instagram page on Wednesday. According to Stanley Ontop, Chijioke Ike tragically passed away at his home in eastern Nigeria during a family gathering.
The filmmaker reportedly collapsed unexpectedly and could not be revived. Describing the incident as a shocking and painful loss, Stanley expressed his grief over Ike’s untimely demise.
In his post, Stanley wrote:
“Black Day for Nollywood eastern part as we lost a vibrant Nollywood producer and marketer @globalgoldenmovies.
“This one pain me ooo. Omo waten the sup.
“According to reliable sources, he slumped in a family meeting in his hometown and kpai [died]. May his soul rest in peace.”
Chijioke Ike was a well-respected figure in Nollywood, particularly in the eastern part of Nigeria, known for his contributions to the growth and promotion of the industry. His death is a significant loss to the film community, leaving colleagues and fans mourning his departure.
