Hector Ekakita, the Chief Security Officer of Ahoada East LGA in Rivers State, has identified cult-related criminal gangs—notably factions loyal as responsible for the recent attack on local government administrator Goodluck Iheamnacho.
Goodluck Iheamnacho reportedly resigned from his position after a resignation letter, allegedly signed by him, surfaced on social media.
However, in response to the incident, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, on Sunday, summoned both the Chief Security Officer (CSO) and the Chief of Staff to the local government administrator for questioning.
The police, in condemning the assault seen in a viral video, described it as the act of hoodlums allegedly led by individuals working under the local government administrator specifically naming the Chief Security Officer (CSO) and the Chief of Staff as suspects.
However, addressing the allegation on Monday in an interview with Channels TV, Hector Ekakita, the CSO, denied any involvement. He stated, “There’s no way I would carry hoodlums to attack the very man I work with.”
Ekakita firmly denied involvement in the alleged attack on the administrator, emphasizing that he was “never found in the video” and was not among those who reportedly carried out the assault.
Ekakita explained that the only involvement he had, as seen in the video, was entering the room after hearing raised voices from his office.
“When I heard a voice from my office, I barged in, but I was told to shut the door because it was a matter between the sole administrator and his political appointees, whom he hadn’t paid for the month of May,” he said.
He further clarified, “I didn’t make any video, nor did I bring in any hoodlums to attack him.”
