Nigeria international Joe Aribo is pushing to leave Sky Bet Championship side Southampton, GIST9JA has learned.
The 29-year-old midfielder is unwilling to remain at St Mary’s following the Saints’ relegation from the Premier League last season. Having already played in the Championship earlier in his career, Aribo is reportedly determined to avoid repeating the experience.
The attacking midfielder was omitted from Southampton’s opening fixture of the season against Wrexham on Saturday.
Aribo has been linked with potential moves to Aston Villa, Villarreal, and Red Bull Salzburg. He joined Southampton from Scottish Premiership side Rangers three years ago.
