A violent confrontation between armed bandits and security operatives in Agwa village, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, has left one vigilante member and two residents injured.
The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, August 28, 2025, when security forces engaged bandits who had been terrorizing the community.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who reported the development on Saturday, a vigilante identified as Tanko Dudu, a native of Agwa, sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange of fire.
He added that two other residents — Sunusi Rabi’u and Sa’adiya Rabi’u — were struck by stray bullets in the crossfire.
All three victims were promptly rushed to the General Hospital in Kagara, where they are reportedly responding positively to treatment.
The clash underscores the ongoing security challenges in Niger State, where rural communities remain vulnerable to frequent bandit attacks despite joint efforts by security forces and local vigilantes.
