The widow of late gospel singer Toluwanisings, Damilola Olayemi, has reportedly agreed to have her husband buried at their residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, following a disagreement with his family over his burial arrangements.
A close associate and colleague of the late singer, Lanre Alewilese, disclosed this in an Instagram video on Sunday, saying the disagreement between the widow and her father-in-law had been resolved.
The controversy began after the singer’s family alleged in a viral interview that Damilola, 32, had opposed plans to bury her husband at their Ibadan residence and preferred that he be buried in a cemetery.
The singer’s father had reportedly insisted that if his son could not be buried at his residence in Ibadan, his remains should be taken to his hometown and laid to rest beside his late mother.
The disagreement sparked widespread reactions on social media, with some Nigerians questioning the widow’s position and calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
However, Alewilese described the dispute as a misunderstanding, insisting that both parties had reached an agreement to bury the singer at his home.
“Please, for God’s sake, let peace reign. Damilola is very young for what she’s currently going through. I’m very close to the deceased; his wife is accommodating. All his band members can attest to this.
“The disagreement between Toluwanisings’ father and his widow has been resolved. What happened was just a misunderstanding. The duo have agreed to bury Toluwanisings at his house,” he said.
The gospel artiste also appealed to Nigerians to stop attacking the widow and allow her to mourn her husband in peace.
“Please, Nigerians, let there be peace. If you truly love the singer, let his wife have peace now that his burial place has been resolved,” he added.
