Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has barred 14 journalists from covering activities at the Government House.
This decision was announced by the governor’s spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, via a message posted in the Government House press crew’s WhatsApp group.
While no clear reason was given for revoking their accreditation, Bature expressed gratitude to the journalists for their work over the past year.
The affected journalists have been asked to return to their respective media outlets for reassignment.
Among those affected are Aliyu Yusuf, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Government House, Sani Suraj Abubakar, Public Relations Officer, and Adamu Dabo, Chairman of the press crew and correspondent for Pyramid Radio.
Other journalists include Naziru Yau (ARTV), Sadiq Sani AA (ARTV cameraman), Rabiu Sunusi (Triumph), Umar Sheka (Freedom Radio), Jabir Dan’abba (Nasara Radio), Labara Sound (Simon AIT Cameraman), Nasiru Danhaki (NTA), Abdullahi Sule (crew driver), Murtala Baba Kusa (Express Radio), and Ibrahim Muazzam (Radio Kano).
