Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Nengi Rebecca Hampson, has dismissed claims that she is expecting a child for Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.
The speculation began after a popular Instagram blog, Gistlover, alleged that a well-known governor was responsible for Nengi’s pregnancy, prompting widespread reactions online. Many netizens linked the rumor to Governor Diri, sparking debates across social media platforms.
In response to the rumors, Nengi took to her X handle on Monday to clarify the situation. While confirming that she is indeed pregnant, she firmly stated that no governor is involved.
“As much as I believe social media lies aren’t worth my time, I’ve come to accept that we live in a world where people are quick to spread lies without limits. So let me be clear—I’m not pregnant for any governor,” she wrote.
Nengi further explained that she felt compelled to address the allegations, not just for herself, but to protect the reputation of those she holds in high regard.
“I’ve chosen to speak because this isn’t just an attack on me. It involves people I deeply respect, and I won’t allow a beautiful, personal part of my life to be turned into something ugly.”
The reality TV star emphasized that she wants to enjoy her pregnancy in peace and urged the public to respect her privacy.
“While I continue to mind my own business and enjoy my pregnancy in PEACE, I wish y’all love and a happy Valentine’s weekend,” she added.
With her statement, Nengi aims to put an end to the speculation, urging the public to focus on facts rather than unfounded rumors circulating on social media.
