“If You Are Keeping Girlfriends But Your Wife Cannot Keep A Boyfriend, You Are A Hypocrite” – Pastor Sarah Omakwu Drags Married Men

“If You Are Keeping Girlfriends But Your Wife Cannot Keep A Boyfriend, You Are A Hypocrite” – Pastor Sarah Omakwu Drags Married Men

A Nigerian cleric, Omakwu, has criticised men who engage in extramarital affairs while expecting their wives to remain faithful, describing such behaviour as a clear display of double standards in marriage.

The cleric argued that marital fidelity should be mutual, insisting that men should not demand loyalty from their wives while maintaining romantic relationships with other women.

She made the remarks in a video shared on her social media page, where she addressed issues surrounding adultery, forgiveness, commitment and the responsibilities of couples in marriage.

Speaking on the different ways men and women respond to infidelity, Omakwu observed that men often find it difficult to forgive their wives when they discover that they have been unfaithful.

She, however, suggested that women are generally more likely to forgive their husbands despite being confronted with similar marital betrayals.

The cleric particularly condemned men who justify their extramarital relationships while expecting their wives to uphold strict standards of faithfulness.

According to her, marriage should not operate on a system where one partner enjoys privileges that are denied to the other.

Addressing men who engage in relationships outside their marriages, she said:

“You are double standard because what is good for the goose is good for the gander. If a woman cannot follow a man, you can’t follow a woman.”

Omakwu maintained that fidelity should be a shared responsibility between husbands and wives, stressing that neither partner should consider infidelity acceptable simply because of their gender.

Cleric Speaks On Commitment In Marriage

Beyond the issue of adultery, the cleric emphasised that marriage is a deliberate decision to remain committed to one person despite the challenges that may emerge along the way.

She explained that choosing a marriage partner means making a conscious decision to build a life together rather than constantly seeking alternatives whenever difficulties arise.

According to her, couples should understand the importance of loyalty, understanding and commitment before entering into marriage.

“When you decide to choose one person to marry, it means I have looked at all the men in the world and all the women and I decided you are the one. So come rain, come shine, we are together,” she added.

Her comments have drawn attention to the issue of marital faithfulness and the expectations placed on husbands and wives, particularly the perceived double standards surrounding adultery and forgiveness.
