A Nigerian man has shared the story of an alleged marital crisis involving his uncle, claiming that the man’s wife left him after he lost his well-paying job and later identified herself as a widow while completing a company travel form.
The story was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, by a user identified as @mikeliberation, who claimed to be recounting events involving his uncle and aunt.
According to the post, the man’s financial situation changed dramatically after he lost a job that reportedly paid him about ₦750,000 monthly.
The X user claimed that his uncle spent several months searching for another job before eventually accepting employment as a truck driver with a pure water company, where he reportedly earned only ₦50,000 per month.
He reportedly struggled to maintain his previous standard of living after the significant reduction in income.
According to the account, the man’s financial difficulties became more serious when the rent on the couple’s apartment expired and he could no longer afford to renew the tenancy.
The man was then said to have relocated to his village.
Wife Reportedly Got New Job And Earned ₦500,000
The situation allegedly changed when the man’s wife received a promotion at her workplace, increasing her monthly income to about ₦500,000.
The X user claimed that the woman subsequently rented another apartment but allegedly refused to allow her husband to move in with her.
The couple’s relationship reportedly became increasingly strained, although the exact circumstances surrounding their marital difficulties were not disclosed.
The story took another turn when the woman’s company reportedly organised an overseas trip for employees and their spouses.
According to the post, the woman completed the travel documentation but allegedly described herself as a widow, despite her husband reportedly still being alive.
Woman Allegedly Injured On Way To Airport
The X user further claimed that the woman was involved in a road accident while travelling to the airport for the trip.
He alleged that she sustained serious injuries and broke both legs in the accident.
However, despite the reported marital dispute and the woman’s alleged description of herself as a widow, the X user claimed that her estranged husband eventually became her caregiver.
“For the past one month, the same husband she called a widow over has been the one caring for her in the hospital,” he wrote.
The story has since generated reactions online, with social media users debating issues including marriage, financial hardship, loyalty between couples and the responsibilities spouses have towards each other during difficult periods.
