Controversial singer Speed Darlington has reacted following his declaration as wanted by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
Reports indicate that NAPTIP recently declared him wanted over allegations of rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
This development comes after the singer failed to honour an invitation by the agency, following a video he posted on Instagram in which he admitted to having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl.
In a video posted on his Instagram page on Monday, the musician defiantly stated that he would not turn himself in for questioning.
Challenging NAPTIP to provide concrete evidence of the alleged crimes, he also threatened to sue the agency for defamation.
“NAPTIP, pay attention. All that ‘wanted’ stuff you people posted everywhere — I want you to take that sh*t down. I’m not coming. Did you hear me? I’m not coming,” he said.
“I haven’t committed any crime. All I did was speak — irresponsible talk is not a crime. Where’s your evidence? Who is your complainant? You people just want to use me to chase social media clout. Like, ‘Hey, look at us, we’re doing our job, we summoned a celebrity and he showed up.
’“I was born here too. I know the psychological mind games you’re trying to play with my name. I charge ₦2.5 million for an appearance so you’ll pay me ₦2.5 million plus round-trip tickets for me and my PA. Because I consider that NAPTIP invite an appearance. I know you guys have no evidence, nothing. There’s no crime. All I did was try to trend. So me coming there is a waste of my time,” he said.
“You’re only reacting because people were tagging you to come after me. Now you want to prove to Nigerians that you’re a responsible agency. Go after me for talking? What do you mean by cyberstalking? Who did I stalk? Did I post anyone? Did I mention any names in the video?
‘I slept with a 15-year-old girl’ — is that a crime? Where is the evidence? Remove my name from that list you added me to. Honestly, I will sue you for defamation of character — for dragging my name through the mud when you have no proof,” he said.
