Bauchi Poly Sparks Fury, Threatens Students with Forced Marriage for Standing Together During Ramadan

The administration of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has ignited controversy after issuing a directive prohibiting male and female students from “standing together in couples” on campus during the holy month of Ramadan.

The notice, dated February 25, 2026, and signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Alhaji Kamisu Salihu, warned that any student found violating the order would face an immediate arranged Nikkah (Islamic marriage).

The announcement has drawn sharp reactions online, with many questioning the enforceability and appropriateness of the policy, while others argue it is an attempt to uphold moral and religious standards during the fasting period.
