A Nigerian woman has appealed to members of the public to prioritise homemade meals after allegedly exposing a food vendor attempting to blend rotten peppers for commercial use.
In a video making the rounds on social media, the woman was seen recording a vendor at a local market as damaged and decaying peppers were allegedly being prepared for blending.
According to the woman, the mixture was intended for use in preparing stew for customers.
Expressing concern over the alleged unhygienic practice, she warned Nigerians to be more careful about where they buy and consume food.
She argued that poor food handling practices could expose unsuspecting consumers to health risks, adding that people should not always assume that food sold at restaurants and other food outlets is prepared under hygienic conditions.
The video has since generated reactions online, with many social media users expressing concern over food safety and calling for greater awareness of proper hygiene among food vendors.
