Dollar to Naira Black Market Rate Today
At the parallel market, the exchange rates stood as follows:
- Selling Rate: ₦1,495 per dollar
- Buying Rate: ₦1,489 per dollar
These rates reflect the continued pressure on the naira in the unofficial foreign exchange market, driven largely by limited dollar supply and strong demand for foreign currency.
Dollar to Naira Official CBN Exchange Rate
In contrast, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) maintained lower rates at the official foreign exchange window. Data from the apex bank shows that the dollar traded within the following range:
- Highest Rate: ₦1,469 per dollar
- Lowest Rate: ₦1,460 per dollar
The official rates are significantly lower than those seen in the black market, highlighting the persistent gap between the regulated and unregulated forex segments.
CBN’s Position on Black Market Trading
It is important to note that the CBN does not recognize or support transactions conducted through the parallel market. The apex bank has consistently advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to process their transactions through licensed commercial banks and approved financial institutions.
