The gap between the official market and the black market continues to reflect the high demand for foreign exchange in Nigeria’s informal forex sector.
The Central Bank of Nigeria has repeatedly maintained that it does not recognize the black market and has advised Nigerians seeking foreign exchange transactions to make use of authorized financial institutions and commercial banks.
However, despite the apex bank’s warnings, many individuals and businesses still rely on the parallel market due to limited access to forex through official channels.
It is important to note that exchange rates may vary depending on location, volume of transaction, and individual Bureau De Change operators. As a result, the rates at which people buy or sell dollars could differ slightly from the figures quoted in this report.
