England international Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm following an alleged incident at a nightclub in central London.
The 30-year-old striker, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli, is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 24, 2026, in connection with the case.
Alleged Incident in Soho
According to reports, the charge relates to an incident that allegedly occurred on December 6, 2025, on Wardour Street in the Soho area of London.
Authorities confirmed that Toney was formally charged on July 31, 2026.
Details surrounding the alleged incident have not yet been made public, and the matter is expected to be determined by the court.
Toney Denies Wrongdoing
Responding to the development, a spokesperson for the England forward said Toney was surprised by the charge and intends to defend himself in court.
The spokesperson stated:
“Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court.”
As the legal proceedings are ongoing, the allegations remain unproven, and Toney is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until a court rules otherwise.

Toney’s scheduled court appearance comes just two days before England’s UEFA Nations League clash against Spain at Wembley Stadium, creating uncertainty over whether he will be available for selection.
The striker recently returned to the England squad under head coach Thomas Tuchel, earning a surprise recall for this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Toney joined Al Ahli from Brentford in August 2024 in a transfer reportedly worth £40 million.
Before leaving England, he established himself as one of the Premier League’s most prolific forwards, scoring 72 goals in 141 appearances for Brentford, including 36 Premier League goals across three seasons.
The striker began his professional career with Northampton Town before spells at Newcastle United, Peterborough United, and Brentford.
