An ex-Muslim social media user has sparked widespread reactions online after sharing a personal account of why he abandoned Islam, claiming that comparing the reported final words of Prophet Muhammad and Jesus Christ deeply affected his faith.
The man, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @RealShahriqKh, shared his thoughts in a lengthy post where he reflected on what he described as a striking contrast between the final moments of the two religious figures.
According to him, his doubts about Islam began after he studied Islamic narrations concerning the final words of Prophet Muhammad and compared them with the biblical account of the crucifixion of Jesus.
“When I was Muslim, I compared Muhammad’s last words to Jesus’ last words. Not just the facts, but the spirit behind them. And bro, the difference is staggering. It shook my devout Muslim faith,” he wrote.
The ex-Muslim referenced a narration found in Sahih al-Bukhari, claiming that among the Prophet Muhammad’s reported final statements was a warning against turning the graves of prophets into places of worship.
He interpreted the statement as one that reflected separation rather than reconciliation.
“No forgiveness. No reconciliation. No peace,” he added while explaining his perspective.
He then contrasted this with the biblical account of Jesus’ crucifixion, where Jesus is recorded as saying, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do,” before declaring, “It is finished.”
According to him, the difference in tone and message between the two accounts significantly changed the way he viewed both religious figures.
“One dies speaking curses. The other dies extending forgiveness,” he wrote.
“One ends by drawing lines and reinforcing division. The other tears the veil and reconciles heaven and earth.”
The man said the comparison ultimately contributed to his decision to leave Islam, insisting that a person’s final words often reveal something deeply personal about their beliefs and character.
“And whether people like it or not, final words reveal something deeply personal about the heart,” he stated.
“That contrast shook me. Because one man’s final moments reinforced separation, while the other’s changed eternity through mercy, sacrifice, and love. Please sit with that honestly.”
The post has since generated intense debate online, with users from different religious backgrounds sharing varying opinions on his interpretation, religious beliefs and conclusions.
