A political commentator, @JacktheBuilder, has called on opposition political parties to close ranks and work together ahead of the 2027 general elections to avoid a repeat of what happened in the concluded FCT election.
The FCT election, which took place on Saturday, February 21, was marred by alleged electoral malpractices by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), coupled with vote buying by the ruling party.
In the post on X, Jack the Builder described the FCT poll as “a huge one with so many lessons,” stating that discussions held with some opposition leaders underscored the urgent need for unity.
“Speaking with a few of the leaders today, one thing we have all agreed on is that all opposition parties must come together,” he wrote.
According to him, consultations are ongoing with leaders of other political parties to consolidate efforts and prepare for future contests.
“It is no longer a matter of individuals now, talks are currently ongoing with leaders of other parties to ensure we all pull our energies together for the fight ahead,” he stated.

The user specifically referenced the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as a strong grassroots party.
He argued that the PDP should not field a presidential candidate in 2027 different from the one to be presented by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to avoid splitting opposition votes.
“PDP is still a very strong grassroots party, and for no reason shaaa PDP field a presidential candidate in 2027 different from who ADC will be fielding,” he wrote.
He added that opposition members should allow the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to “enjoy their win” in the FCT election while they return “to the drawing board.”
The FCT election has continued to generate reactions from political actors and supporters, with many analysing its implications for broader political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
