IPOB Hails Georgia As Nnamdi Kanu Bags Prestigious Honorary Citizen Award In U.S

On behalf of our Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and members of the Biafran nation worldwide, we express our profound appreciation to Honorable Congressman Gabe Okoye of the State of Georgia, United States of America, for his instrumental role in securing the prestigious Honorary Citizen of Georgia Award in recognition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

This distinguished honour represents a symbolic gesture of goodwill and recognition for the contributions Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has made, and continues to make, to public discourse, cultural engagement, humanitarian advocacy, and global awareness. The designation of Honorary Citizen reflects the State of Georgia’s acknowledgment of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as a friend and distinguished guest of the state.

Historical references indicate that only a limited number of foreign nationals have received this form of honorary recognition in the United States since 1963. In many cases, such honours were conferred posthumously. It is widely noted that among those recognised during their lifetime were Sir Winston Churchill of Great Britain, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu. His inclusion among such distinguished personalities underscores the significance attributed to this recognition.

We understand that such honours are reserved for individuals whose influence and contributions extend beyond national boundaries. The conferment of this recognition is therefore deeply appreciated and regarded as a meaningful milestone by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and many who follow his advocacy.

Accordingly, we extend our sincere gratitude not only to Congressman Gabe Okoye, but also to the Office of the Secretary of State of Georgia, Mr. Brad Raffensperger, the Governor of the State of Georgia, and the citizens of Georgia for this notable gesture of recognition.

Please accept our respectful appreciation for this act of goodwill and acknowledgment.

With respect and gratitude,

Comrade Emma Powerful
Spokesperson / Media and Publicity Secretary
For the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)
