Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P and one-half of the now-defunct P-Square music duo, has opened up about one of the most difficult moments in his personal life, alleging that his elder brother, Jude Okoye, and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, pressured him to terminate his partner’s pregnancy.
The singer made the revelation in a video shared on his Instagram page, where he continued to speak about the long-running family dispute involving the former P-Square members.
According to Peter, he was 27 years old when his then-girlfriend, Lola Omotayo, became pregnant. Rather than allow rumours to spread, he said he chose to publicly announce the pregnancy himself during the Soundcity Music Awards.
‘I Wanted Nigerians to Hear It From Me’
Peter explained that he decided to break the news during the award ceremony after P-Square received an award because he wanted to be transparent with fans and avoid speculation.
He recalled thanking God, the group’s supporters and everyone who had contributed to their success before dedicating the award to the mother of his unborn child.
According to him, the announcement did not go down well with his brothers.
‘They Walked Out of the Event’
Mr P alleged that immediately after he revealed the pregnancy, both Jude and Paul left the venue in anger.
According to the singer, they expressed fears that the announcement would damage P-Square’s image and negatively affect the group’s career.
He further claimed that they insisted Lola should terminate the pregnancy.
Peter Alleges Attempt to Discredit Lola
The singer also alleged that the situation escalated beyond disagreements over his announcement.
According to him, Jude and Paul allegedly orchestrated efforts to discredit Lola by creating what he described as a fake email claiming the unborn child was not his.
Peter alleged that the email falsely portrayed Lola as someone attempting to trap him through pregnancy.
The singer maintained that despite the pressure and allegations, he stood by Lola and rejected calls to terminate the pregnancy.
Family Dispute Continues
Peter’s latest claims are part of his ongoing public exchanges with his brothers over issues relating to the management of P-Square, financial dealings, and events that allegedly occurred during the group’s active years.
The dispute has generated widespread public attention in recent weeks, with Peter releasing a series of videos detailing his version of events.
As of the time of this report, Jude Okoye and Paul Okoye have not publicly responded to Peter’s latest allegations. The claims therefore remain Peter’s account of events and have not been independently verified.
