Detectives in Isinya, Kajiado County, Kenya, have arrested a man suspected of murdering his 34-year-old wife, Farida Peter Sangka, and attempting to conceal the crime by burying her body in a shallow grave on their farm in Entarakuet.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) disclosed the development in a statement on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
According to the agency, the investigation began after Ndayishimiye Deo, a Burundian national employed as a farmhand by the suspect, reported the alleged murder to the authorities.
The suspect was identified as Shon David Rabassa Kioko.
The farmhand reportedly told investigators that his employer had killed his wife before instructing him to assist in burying her body in a shallow grave on the farm.
Acting on the report, detectives visited the scene and arrested Kioko and Deo for questioning as investigations commenced.
The scene was secured while officers began efforts to recover the deceased’s remains for forensic examination.
The body was subsequently exhumed in the presence of a pathologist, Ministry of Health officials and police officers to facilitate investigations and establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
The remains were later transferred to Nairobi Funeral Home, where they will be preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, Kioko and Deo remain in custody as detectives continue investigating the incident to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged murder and determine the role of each suspect.
In its statement, the DCI expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and loved ones.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased,” the statement read.
The agency also expressed solidarity with the family and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that justice is served.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations against the suspects have yet to be determined by a court.
