Naira Records Fresh Exchange Rate At Official Market

The Nigerian naira continued trading against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the naira was quoted at ₦1,331.2027 per US dollar at the official market.

The latest figure reflects the prevailing official exchange rate as reported by the apex bank for the day.

However, the rate available to individuals and businesses through commercial banks, Bureau de Change (BDC) operators and other foreign exchange dealers may differ from the CBN reference rate.

Differences can arise from transaction charges, dealers’ margins, market liquidity and the level of demand and supply for foreign currency at a particular time.

The naira’s performance at the official market remains an important indicator for businesses, importers, investors and other participants who depend on access to foreign exchange.

Market participants are expected to continue watching developments in foreign exchange inflows, dollar demand, external reserves and monetary policy measures as the month progresses.

The direction of the naira will also depend on developments in the broader foreign exchange market and the policies adopted by the CBN to manage liquidity and improve stability.

The official CBN rate should not be confused with parallel-market rates, which are determined separately by transactions between willing buyers and sellers outside the official market.
