NDC Campaign Council Rejects Okorocha’s ‘Four-Year Gambling’ Remark on Peter Obi

The National Campaign Council of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has disagreed with former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha over his description of a single-term presidency as a “four-year gambling,” following his recent comments about the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The Director-General of the NDC National Campaign Council, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, stated this in a statement issued on Friday while reacting to Okorocha’s interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Abdulkarim said the campaign council welcomed Okorocha’s description of Obi as “a fantastic gentleman” who was “clear in his head,” but disagreed with his position that four years would amount to gambling with Nigeria’s future.

According to him, a single four-year presidential term could be enough to transform the country if the leader is sincere, focused and guided by a clear development plan.

He maintained that Obi was prepared to serve for only one term to address Nigeria’s challenges, insisting that the former Anambra State governor was not seeking to gamble with the future of Nigerians.

The exchange has sparked debate among political observers and supporters, with some Obi supporters welcoming Okorocha’s positive remarks about the NDC candidate, while others question whether four years would be sufficient to tackle Nigeria’s deep-rooted economic and governance challenges.
