The Nigeria Democratic Congress has announced the closure of the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants seeking to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the party.
However, the party extended the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship aspirants from May 17 to May 24, 2026.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the National Secretary of the party, Ikenna Enekweizu.
According to the statement, the screening exercise for aspirants who have already purchased and completed their Expression of Interest Forms will commence on Tuesday and conclude on May 26.
The party also announced that the collection and submission of Nomination Forms for aspirants who successfully scale through the screening process would begin on Wednesday and end on May 26.
The NDC warned that no further extension would be granted after the new deadline and urged aspirants to comply strictly with the party’s timetable and guidelines.
“All aspirants are advised to adhere strictly to the stipulated timelines, as no further extension shall be granted beyond the approved deadline,” the statement read.
The party further directed aspirants to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues across the country.
According to the NDC, aspirants are expected to present relevant documents during the screening process, including educational certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, passport photographs, voter’s card, party membership card and curriculum vitae.
It added that all documents submitted by aspirants must be provided in six copies.
The party explained that its screening exercise would be guided by several factors, including the wishes of the electorate, local political realities, competence, character and leadership capacity of aspirants.
The NDC also disclosed that the Screening Committee would consider the party’s affirmative action policy for women, youths and persons living with disabilities.
In addition, the party encouraged aspirants to embrace consensus arrangements where necessary in order to strengthen unity and minimise internal divisions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The NDC stressed that only aspirants successfully cleared by the screening committee would be eligible to proceed with the purchase of Nomination Forms.
