Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has spoken about his relationship with the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, describing their friendship as close despite their differing political positions.
Soludo made this known during an interview with BBC Igbo News, where he disclosed that both families share a longstanding personal relationship.
The governor revealed that Obi’s wife is the godmother of his daughter, while his own wife serves as the godmother of one of Obi’s daughters.
According to Soludo, their personal relationship remains cordial, but their political interests and visions have taken different directions.
“We are close friends, and our families are also very close. His wife is my daughter’s godmother, while my wife is his daughter’s godmother.
“But when it comes to politics, we have different visions,” Soludo said.
The Anambra governor, however, did not provide further details about the issues responsible for the differences in their political outlook.
His comments highlight the distinction between personal relationships and political affiliations, particularly as political activities and alignments continue to generate discussions ahead of future elections.
