The Presidency on Sunday debunked a viral report alleging that a chef at the State House, Abuja, had been arrested over a purported plot to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The clarification followed the circulation of an online report claiming that a member of the kitchen staff at the Presidential Villa had been apprehended in connection with an alleged attempt on the President’s life.
Responding to an enquiry by The Nation, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Tope Ajayi, dismissed the claim in strong terms.
“Fake,” Ajayi said in a terse response when contacted on the matter.
The viral report, which did not cite any credible source or verifiable details, gained traction on social media and sparked speculation among members of the public.

Adebayo spoke in Kano at a Ramadan Iftar organised by the AAFAQ Foundation, where he urged citizens to reflect deeply on the state of the nation and embrace justice over division.
Recalling his campaign visit to Kano four years ago, the former SDP flag bearer said he foresaw that the country was heading toward a period of hard lessons.
