A TikTok cleric, Woli Arugbo Ojo, has reportedly been arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, following controversy over his claim that he would raise late gospel singer Toluwanisings from the dead.
The cleric was allegedly taken into custody on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, after the singer’s personal assistant reportedly lodged a complaint over statements linking him to the circumstances surrounding the gospel singer’s death.
However, the police had not publicly confirmed the reported arrest or issued an official statement on the allegations at the time of reporting.
Prophet’s Wife Appeals for Help
Following the development, Woli Arugbo Ojo’s wife reportedly appealed to Nigerians at home and abroad to intervene, claiming that she did not know her husband’s whereabouts.
In a video shared on the cleric’s TikTok page on Wednesday, the woman alleged that her husband had been taken away following a complaint by the late singer’s personal assistant.
She called on Nigerians, including those in the diaspora, to help establish where her husband was being held.
The cleric’s wife also defended his controversial statements, maintaining that he believed he was acting on divine instructions.
Why Woli Arugbo Ojo Was Reportedly Arrested
The reported arrest followed the cleric’s public statements about Toluwanisings’ death and his prediction that the late singer would return to life.
According to reports, the singer’s personal assistant also objected to allegations allegedly made by the cleric concerning his role in the circumstances surrounding the death.
The police were reportedly asked to investigate the claims, with the cleric allegedly being required to provide evidence to support his statements.
Nevertheless, the circumstances surrounding the reported arrest remain unclear, as the authorities had not officially confirmed the development at the time of publication.
What Happened to Toluwanisings?
Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, reportedly died on October 14, 2026, after collapsing at his residence in Ibadan.
Following his death, his personal assistant alleged that some hospitals refused to provide emergency treatment when the singer was taken there.
The circumstances surrounding his passing have since generated discussions on social media, with disagreements also reportedly emerging within his family over his burial arrangements.
Gospel Singers Threaten Legal Action Over Death Allegations
The controversy has extended to other gospel entertainers following the circulation of allegations on social media linking individuals to the singer’s death.
Gospel singer Tope Alabi, comedian Woli Agba and Dele Omo Woli have reportedly threatened legal action against an individual identified as Pastor Tayo Ministries over social media posts allegedly linking them to the incident.
The reported arrest of Woli Arugbo Ojo has added another dimension to the controversy, as questions continue to surround the claims made after Toluwanisings’ death.
Further details are expected if the police issue an official statement on the reported arrest.
