WATCH: Video Captures Moment Lawmaker’s Phone Was Stolen at Funeral in Umuahia

A viral video circulating on social media has captured the moment a mobile phone belonging to a member of the House of Representatives, Amobi Ogah, was allegedly stolen during a funeral ceremony in Umuahia.

The incident occurred on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, where dignitaries and mourners had gathered for the burial of renowned cleric, the late Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai.

In the now widely shared footage, the lawmaker is seen moving through the crowd while exchanging pleasantries with attendees. Surrounded by a large number of people, he appeared unaware of the presence of the suspect who managed to get within close range.

The video shows the unidentified individual skillfully navigating the crowd before discreetly taking the phone and slipping away without drawing immediate attention.

Moments later, the lawmaker was seen reacting after realizing his phone was missing. However, he appeared unsure of who was responsible, as the suspect had already blended back into the crowd.

The incident has since raised fresh concerns about security lapses at high-profile public gatherings, especially events attended by prominent figures.

Authorities are yet to officially identify the suspect, while the video continues to generate reactions and calls for improved security measures at crowded venues.
