A former Oyo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Ahmed Ajibola, popularly known as General H, has broken his silence over his exit from the pro-Tinubu political group, insisting that he voluntarily resigned based on personal principles and not because he was removed from office.
Ajibola made the clarification in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Friday, dismissing reports circulating on social media that he had been sacked as the movement’s Oyo State coordinator and had made disparaging remarks about President Bola Tinubu, his son Seyi Tinubu, and other leaders of the organisation.
The former coordinator described the reports as false, maintaining that no letter of dismissal, suspension or termination was ever issued to him.
“If I had truly been sacked, where is the letter of dismissal, termination, or removal from office? None exists because none was ever issued,” he stated.
Resignation Was Based on Principle
Ajibola explained that his decision to step down was guided by his personal convictions and not by resentment or political differences.
In his resignation letter addressed to the national leadership of the City Boy Movement, he expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve as the group’s coordinator in Oyo State but disclosed that he declined offers to assume new positions within the organisation.
According to him, the decision was taken after careful reflection.
“My decision is based not on bitterness, but on principle,” he said.
He added that genuine leadership should be founded on values such as fairness, transparency, competence, loyalty and mutual respect.
Ajibola noted that recent developments within the Oyo State chapter of the movement convinced him that he could no longer continue in the organisation without compromising his principles.
Criticises State Leadership
The former coordinator expressed disappointment over the direction the movement has taken in Oyo State, particularly under its newly appointed leadership.
He alleged that certain actions and decisions within the state chapter no longer reflected the ideals that initially motivated members to dedicate their time and resources to the organisation.
“Certain actions and decisions have fallen short of the values that inspired many of us to dedicate our time, energy, and resources to the growth of this movement,” he stated.
Despite his reservations about the internal workings of the movement, Ajibola stressed that his resignation should not be interpreted as a rejection of President Tinubu or the Federal Government.
‘My Support for Tinubu Remains Unwavering’
Ajibola reaffirmed his commitment to President Tinubu and the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, insisting that his exit from the City Boy Movement has not affected his political loyalty.
“Let me, however, make one thing abundantly clear: my resignation from the City Boy Movement does not in any way diminish my support, admiration, and loyalty to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” he said.
He reiterated that his support for the President remains unwavering, describing his resignation as a personal decision rooted in principle rather than a shift in political allegiance.
The development comes amid growing attention on internal dynamics within political support groups ahead of future political activities, with Ajibola’s statement aimed at correcting what he described as misinformation surrounding his departure from the City Boy Movement.
