Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of allegedly manipulating the outcome of the party’s governorship primary election in Oyo State.
In a video currently circulating online, Adelabu expressed strong dissatisfaction with the conduct of the primary, claiming that the process was compromised and unfairly tilted against him.
The former minister alleged that some party leaders influenced the exercise in favour of another aspirant, insisting that the final outcome did not reflect the genuine wishes of party members and delegates across the state.
According to him, several irregularities and electoral infractions were reported in different wards during the exercise.
“Reports reaching me state that there are a lot of gross misconducts in the other wards, ranging from various forms of infractions,” Adelabu said.
“In some wards, they conducted the election hours before the appointed time and wrote the figures they liked.”
Adelabu also warned that unresolved grievances and internal disputes within the party could weaken the APC’s chances in the forthcoming governorship election in Oyo State.
The APC governorship primary eventually produced Sarafadeen Alli as the party’s candidate after he secured a landslide victory with 578,143 votes.
According to the results announced after the exercise, Alli defeated other aspirants by a wide margin.
Buhari Abdulfatai reportedly polled 37,265 votes, while Adelabu finished with 19,193 votes.
The allegations have further intensified discussions around internal party democracy and the conduct of political primaries ahead of the next electoral cycle.
